Nuwara Eliya sits at 1,868 meters in Sri Lanka's central highlands, where the air cools, the rain clouds gather, and endless tea plantations blanket the slopes. It's a world away from the coastal heat—perfect for a break, a stay of 2–3 days minimum. Colombo to Nuwara Eliya is about 4.5 hours by road; the train journey is slower but scenic and worth it if you have time.
