Sri Lanka's July arrivals hold near 197,000 as 2026 passes 1.34 million
SLTDA's July report counts 196,845 visitors — fractionally down on last year — taking 2026's total to 1,343,418 arrivals.
Sri Lanka welcomed 196,845 international visitors in July 2026, according to the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority's monthly arrivals report — a slight 1.7% dip against July last year, but enough to carry the year past another milestone: 1,343,418 arrivals between 1 January and 31 July.
India remained the island's largest source market with 44,547 arrivals — roughly 26% of the month's total — followed by the United Kingdom (21,834), the Netherlands (12,493), China (12,336) and France (10,102).
For travellers, the takeaway is simple: the island stays busy through the August festival season, and Bandaranaike's peak-hour queues are real. If you're flying out of Colombo this month, arrive early — and if you're bringing family in for the Kandy Esala Perahera, book stays and fares now rather than later.
