From August 1, 2021, Sri Lanka's tourism ministry welcomed visitors of all nationalities again, marking the first full reopening since international borders tightened during the pandemic. The entry rules depend on vaccination status. Fully vaccinated travellers enjoy reduced restrictions, while those partially vaccinated or unvaccinated will need to arrange a quarantine stay at one of the government-approved Safe and Secure hotels. Either way, the borders are now open.
