Sri Lanka Suspends International Flights: Immediate Travel Changes
Government orders suspension of all incoming international flights effective 17 March 2020, 3pm.
Sri Lanka's government has ordered a suspension of all international flights arriving in the country, effective from 3pm on 17 March 2020, citing the escalating threat of coronavirus transmission. The decision coincides with an extension of the public holiday period to reduce community spread.
This suspension affects all incoming international passengers, including Sri Lankans returning home. If you have a flight scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka after 3pm on March 17, contact your airline immediately. If you're currently abroad, understand that re-entry to Sri Lanka may not be possible under normal commercial routes until this suspension lifts. Contact your airline and the Presidential Secretariat's official channels for updates.
